The Property Management Services Authority (PMSA) and the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) jointly organised this evening the Continuing Professional Development (CPD) seminar on “Management Practices” and shared with property management practitioners (PMPs) on topics covering integrity and anti-corruption as well as the latest development of security services in order to raise the professional and integrity standard of the PM industry, to provide support to PMPs to carry out their PM duties and to encourage development of the culture of continuing learning.
The seminar was held on-site at the ICAC Headquarters, attracting over 150 participants from the PM industry. Speakers include Principal Corruption Prevention Officer of the ICAC Edmond LAW Wai-hung, Principal Investigator of the ICAC Grace YEE Hin-lai, Programme Coordinator, Building Management of the ICAC Karen HUANG Hsiao-hsin, and Member of the PMSA and General Manager of Lion Training Centre Limited Justin WONG Fai-sing. Chairperson of the PMSA Tony TSE Wai-chuen and Assistant Director of the Corruption Prevention Department of the ICAC Alpha LEUNG Chung-ping also delivered respectively the opening and welcome address at the seminar.
All PMP licensees who participated in the seminar would earn two recognised CPD participation hours under the PMSA’s CPD Scheme and would be awarded an electronic certificate of participation by the PMSA.
The PMSA Chairperson TSE said, “Conduct and integrity are equally important to a professional and upright PMP in addition to professional qualifications and knowledge. Unethical or unlawful acts or practices in the provision of PM services not only would adversely affect the quality and reputation of the PM services and thus jeopardising occupants’ interests, but may also generate possible risk to their comfort in living and working. In addition, security services, which help prevent crime and safeguard the lives and properties of occupants, are closely related to PM work. As smart security systems gradually becoming popular and are widely adopted in PM services, PMPs have to stay up-to-date with the latest development in order for them to carry out daily security work effectively.”
The PMSA has launched the CPD scheme since early 2022 to encourage PMP licensees to participate in PMSA-organised or recognised CPD activities or courses on a voluntarily basis during the transitional period of the PM licensing regime (up to 31 July 2023) in order to strengthen their professional knowledge and skills. These activities or courses are diverse in topics and formats and cover aspects including Professional Knowledge, Law and Regulations and Management Practices.
As of October this year, over 120 activities or courses organised by PMSA Recognised Professional Bodies have been recognised under the Scheme. The PMSA will continue to work with industry bodies, relevant Government departments and public organisations to arrange various PM-related seminars and activities so as to offer industry practitioners more opportunities for continuous education.
